HORSEBACK RIDING SAFARIS IN LAKE MBURO

HORSEBACK RIDING SAFARIS IN LAKE MBURO .

Horseback riding safari is the most epic activity available exclusively in Lake Mburo and not in any other Ugandan national park.Lake Mburo is frequently the first stop on the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which is home to mountain gorillas.

Bwindi is a popular destination for people looking to go on a gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. So, you can combine the two parks for the most wonderful and memorable safari experience in Africa.
Lake Mburo National Park has a large wetland area and is home to various mammal species, including zebras, elands, topis, and buffaloes.
The bird population includes the unusual shoebill, harrier hawk, green pigeon, and double toothed barbet.

The sculptured landscape, with undulating grassy hills and the lovely Lake Shore Drive, features a diverse mosaic of habitats, including forest galleries, rich acacia tree valleys, seasonal and permanent swamps, among others.

The sole organizer of the horse ride.

Mihingo Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park is the primary organizer of these safaris, and it has a stable record with horses and ponies. Trail saddles, chaps, stirrups, and helmets are available to all riders. A guide hopes you enjoy the horse ride in the park.

Photography is not ideal because your hands must be on the reins, which are damaged by the horse’s movements.

However, if you are an experienced rider, we can assure you that there are plenty of photo possibilities as you ride through the Savannah. You cannot fail to appreciate the beauty and splendour of the nearest park from Uganda’s capital, Kampala.

The horseback ride allows you to get close to the animals and observe the blend of domestic and wild.
You don’t need any prior experience, and safety precautions are taken seriously.

There is plenty of equipment for both children and adults. The journeys range from 30 minutes to many hours, depending on your preferences! Mihingo Lodge also provides 2-3-day horseback safaris.

Horseback Riding Experience in Lake Mburo National Park

The horseback safari experience in Lake Mburo National Park evokes the picture of a countryyard cowboy trying to care for his herds, which in this case are zebras, buffaloes, and more. Do not miss it because you are busy capturing excellent photos with your camera at your own leisure.

During your horse ride, you can also decide to do some footing as you sight the animals as close as you wish. Horse rides are adjusted according to your riding ability.

For beginners and inexperienced riders, we recommend that you only take a guided nature walk or game drive safari.

If you are an advanced rider, there are lovely stretches for trotting and cantering.

Mihingo Safar Lodge has been operating horseback safaris since 2008, outside Lake Mburo National Park. In November 2009, they received a concession to operate horse safaris inside the park, where they found some fantastic routes.

The maximum weight that the horses can carry is 100 kg, but most of the horses cannot carry more than 85 kg.

Please do not be offended if you must be weighed first to ensure that the horses are not overburdened.

The most exciting horse ride safari in Lake Mburo National Park is recommended for more experienced riders and lasts between 4 and 5 hours.

This leads you to the green Warukiri series of hills in the center of the park.

Beautiful 360-degree views of the park’s hills and valleys may be seen from high on the Warukiri peak.
On the highest hill, there is a waterhole where you may spot a herd of buffaloes enjoying the cool air. Nine of the twelve lakes that surround Lake Mburo National Park offer breathtaking views. This ride really transforms the park’s atmosphere and is quite stunning.

Horseback riding, safari gear, and other activities

During the journey, riders are given completely adjustable helmets in all sizes, as well as riding begins.

We recommend long trousers and robust shoes, preferably with a heel, but trainers are acceptable.
For the time being, a maximum of six horse riders can be handled at once; all rides are accompanied by at least one experienced horse riding guide, but in most cases, two guides accompany each ride; additionally, you can choose to go on an overnight horse ride safari.

There is something exhilarating about arriving at a fly camp, whether on the shores of Lake Mburo or on top of one of many surrounding hills.

While here, tents can be constructed to prepare a three-course meal and a bush breakfast for you in the morning.

As a consequence, you may relax and enjoy spending the night under the stars in the center of the park.
If you haven’t rode much before, start with a walk or trot.

However, if you are a competent rider, you can enjoy cantering with zebras across the grassy plains between the hills.
