Overview

The 8-day Uganda tour, primates and wildlife safari takes you to Uganda’s biggest and largest national park, Murchison Falls national park, to see a number of wildlife species like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, leopards, hippos, and crocodiles, among others, with a nile boat ride, and to Kibale Forest National Park to see the chimps, drive through Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth national park for the tree climbing lions, and to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park forest national park for the giant mountain gorillas.

Detailed Itinerary

Day One: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport.

Your driver/guide will meet you at the airport. Depending on your arrival time, if you arrive at night, we will check into the Boma Hotel for some rest after the long travel.

Day 2: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park.

After a cup of tea or coffee, go to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest park, spanning over 5000 square kilometers. Drive through the Luwero Triangle, which is notable for the 1980 Ugandan civil war, and the long stretch from Nakasongola to Masindi town before entering the park. For lunch, check into the Nile Safari Lodge. Dinner and overnight stay at Fort Murchison Lodge for relaxation.

Day 3: Game drive around Murchison Falls.

Have an early cup of tea or coffee at 6:00 a.m., ferry crossing, to the game drive Nile river bank to the open savannah for the most likely Big cats hunting, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and more As the mammal checklist reaches 76, we continue to explore the drive circuits to the Delta point for a mix of birds and mammals.

If you enjoy bird watching, here is the greatest area to find them. Afternoon 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. for a three-hour boat excursion to the base of the Falls, where you can witness hippos grooming in their pods, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and a variety of magnificent bird species along the way.

Day 4: Murchison Falls, Kibale National Park.

After breakfast, leave the park and drive along Lake Albert to the escarpment area for a great view of the Great Rift Valley. Continue to Hoima town for lunch at the Kolping Hotel, then through Mabale and Kagadi towns with great views of the local community, thatched houses, schoolchildren, and finally to Kyenjojo town.

Remember that there is a gravel road from Murchison Falls to Kyenjonjo Town. Drive 55 kilometers to Fort Portal town, then continue through the tea fields for the evening. Check in at Kibale Forest Camp for the night.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trek and Bigodi Walk

After an early breakfast, proceed to the Kibale Forest National Park headquarters for a morning briefing before beginning the chimp tracking tour. Expect to see many monkeys, birds, and tree species. Return for lunch at the Primates Lodge. Evening leisure or Bigodi Nature Walk, with many monkey species to be seen in the forest. Overnight in Kibale Forest Camp.

On Day 6

We will travel from Kibale National Park to Bwindi via Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing through Ishsha and hoping to spot tree lions.

Overnight in Buhoma Community Rest Camp.

Day 7: Gorilla Tracking

After breakfast, we attend the briefing at 8:00 a.m., and we begin the day’s Gorilla tracking experience.

Return later and spend the night in Buhoma rest camp. Alternatively, you can visit Lake Bunyonyi and stay at the Bunyonyi overland resort.

Day 8: Drive back to Kampala.

Morning breakfast and go back to Kampala via Mbarara.
