Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Rhino Tracking in Ziwa and Transfer to Murchison Falls

Arrival at Entebbe International Airport: You will be met by our driver/guide from Gecko Safaris Africa and transported to a pre-arranged hotel. Depending on the arrival time of your flight, you may choose to rest for a day after the long travel or begin your 5-day best of Uganda tour.

Our drive takes us via Kampala’s bustling towns of Bwaise and Kawempe, then through the Luwero triangle, which is famed for Uganda’s previous tyrannical dictatorship. Check in at Nakitoma village and travel to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a 2-hour break with a rhino tracking adventure.

Lunch at Kabalega Dinners or Masindi Town.

Dinner and overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat trip along the Victoria Nile.

After an early breakfast, go on a game drive to see buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, waterbucks, lions, crocodiles, leopards, elephants, Jackson’s heartbeasts, Kobs, oribis, warthogs, and other species.

Return to the Paraa safari lodge for lunch and to prepare for the evening boat cruise on the Nile River.

Dinner and overnight at Budongo Eco Lodge.

Day 3: Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park.

The route to Queen Elizabeth National Park takes us through Masindi, Hoima, Mabale, and Kagadi towns, passing through Kyenjonjo’s tea estates and stopping for lunch at the Gardens Restaurant in Fortportal. Continue for an 80-kilometer trip to Kasese town, which offers stunning views of the Rwenzori highlands and Lake George in Queen Elizabeth National Park. We are already seeing a lot of antelope, elephants, and other wildlife.

Dinner and overnight at the Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 4: Early morning game drive followed by a boat trip in the Kazinga Channel.

Early morning game drive is a fantastic opportunity to drive across game paths with a clear view of the Rwenzori Mountains. Many buffaloes and waterbucks have been promised.

3:00 pm Take a 2-hour boat excursion on the Kazinga Channel, then return at 5:00 p.m. to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Return to Kampala / Entebbe Airport.

Following our early morning breakfast, we will briefly drive through the game trails in search of more animal sightings before returning to Kampala / Entebbe Airport or our preferred drop-off location.
