Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha.

Our safari guide will receive you at the airport and bring you to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to decompress and prepare for the trip of a lifetime. Arusha, a busy city in northern Tanzania, is a must-stop for most safari visitors.

Accommodation: Gran Melia Arusha.

Day 2: Transfer to Tarangire National Park.

After breakfast, your safari driving guide will pick you up from your accommodation, and you will start out for Tarangire National Park, a journey of around two and a half hours on well-maintained asphalt roads. The park, named after the Tarangire River, provides a critical water supply for animals during the dry season, earning it the moniker “river of warthogs.”

Tarangire National Park is well-known for its vast elephant herds that may be observed along the river, as well as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, which attract predators such as lions and leopards. Tarangire also has the highest concentration of bird nesting species on the planet, and you’ll be amazed by the ancient baobab trees, some of which are over a thousand years old. After the wildlife drive, have a picnic lunch in the park before continuing on to your Karatu hotel.

Accommodation: Kitela Lodge.

Day 3: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater.

After breakfast, you will travel to the colder areas of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. At first glance, the Ngorongoro Crater looks to be a forgotten planet. An untamed environment surrounded by towering volcanic cliffs is home to huge savannahs, acacia trees, and dazzling lakes and marshes.

The Crater, created by the fall of a huge volcano two to three million years ago, spans 260 km2. The Crater is known for its geological wonders and for being home to some of Africa’s densest big animal populations, making it a one-of-a-kind nature reserve. Descending into the crater, you will see plentiful wildlife, such as wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, and over 500 bird species, as well as an outstanding opportunity to see the endangered black rhino.

After exploring the Crater, you will travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to the southern gate of Serengeti National Park.

Day 4 : Serengeti National Park

The Serengeti is a spectacular site, known for its vast open grasslands and excellent animal watching chances. Its temperature and plants have stayed relatively constant for millions of years, preserving its natural splendor.

The Serengeti is famed for its yearly Great Migration, during which large herds of wildebeest, joined by zebras and antelopes, move in search of new pasture. This migration happens all year, with different sites providing optimal viewing at different times. To get the most of your trip, you should be aware of the finest places to see animals during each season.

In addition to its spectacular scenery, the Serengeti offers plenty of opportunity to see predators like lions, cheetahs, and leopards. The experience is genuinely transformational. In the afternoon, you will start your return to Karatu, with the hope of encountering more wonders along the way.

Accommodation: Kitela Lodge

Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will go to Lake Manyara National Park, a tiny but incredibly diversified park located 120 kilometers west of Arusha. The small park’s environment is starkly framed by the towering Great Rift Escarpment to the west, providing a sense of both compactness and majesty.

The park’s namesake, Lake Manyara, is a shallow, salty lake that covers much of the territory, changing with the seasons and drawing thousands of wading birds, including flamingos and over 500 other species.

You may see baboons and elephants in the park’s lush evergreen forest, as well as the famed tree-climbing lions. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. After your gaming drive, you will say goodbye to your guide and be dropped off at a location of your choice, such as Arusha, Kilimanjaro Airport, or Arusha Airport.
