Overview

This safari takes you through Africa’s iconic canyon, the Great Rift Valley, and to Lake Nakuru, where hundreds of thousands of flamingos and pelicans live. Then, visit the gorgeous Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Reserve to see a variety of birds and spectacular fauna. The tour concludes at the renowned Masai Mara National Reserve, which has been dubbed the world’s seventh wonder due to the dramatic yearly migration of wildebeest and zebra.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve.

Pick up from the hotel at 7:30 a.m. and head to our office to meet the rest of the group. Later, travel south down the Great Rift Valley floor, stopping at the viewpoint and arriving in time for lunch at Sankale Camp. Later, take an evening game drive over the well-known tree-studded grasslands and rolling hills.

The famed Mara is also known for its large herds of plain game, black-maned lions, leopards, and cheetahs, but it also has many elephants and almost every other form of wildlife found in Kenya. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Sankale Camp.

Day 2: Masai Mara: Extended Game Drive

After breakfast, go for a full day of wildlife viewing and a picnic lunch by the Mara River. The river normally has a high concentration of fauna. Enjoy your picnic lunch while watching crocodiles, hippos, and other creatures in and near the lake. On this day, you can visit Masai settlements. Sankale Camp provides all meals and overnight accommodations.

Day 3: Masai Village to Lake Nakuru National Park.

After breakfast, go on an optional Masai village visit, which you can pay for directly at the village. After that, depart for Nakuru town, stopping for a picnic lunch along the road, and arrive in the evening. If time allows, you can take a boat to Lake Naivasha Crescent Island. Hillcourt Resort (cheap accomodation) will host your supper and overnight stay.

Day 4: Nakuru to Lake Naivasha

After an early breakfast, spend the morning in Lake Nakuru National Park, where you may witness a variety of birds, including flamingos.

Lake Nakuru National Park is also home to black and white rhinoceroses. The park was also designed to safeguard endangered species like rhinos, and it is home to Columbus monkeys, leopards, giraffes, and other plain antelope. After that, travel to the nearby town of Naivasha. Your supper and overnight stay will take place at Hotel Chambai Safari.

Day 5: Naivasha to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, travel to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you will have the opportunity to visit Ol Karia’s geothermal power plant and hot springs. Hell’s Gate is the only park that allows both walking and cycling.

There is an optional boat journey to Crescent Island to see hippos and other wildlife. After lunch, depart for Nairobi, arriving at 5:00pm and dropping you at your accommodation.
Main destination: Nairobi (city).
