Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

En route, you’ll stop at the Equator for photos and get the opportunity to explore the area that separates the Southern and Northern Hemispheres. Make another stop in Mbarara for lunch before continuing to Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda’s deepest lake and located on the Uganda-Rwanda border. On a clear day, you might be able to glimpse the majestic volcanic Mount Muhavura. Dinner and overnight stay in Bunyonyi Overland resort.(mid-range and budget) Birdnest (luxury).

Day 2: Canoe ride and travel to Bwindi National Park.

After breakfast, you will board a hired canoe and explore the surrounds from the water’s surface, looking for different bird species on the Lake’s 37 islands. Return to the Lodge for lunch, and then transfer to Bwindi Forest National Park, one of the world’s heritage sites and noted for its gorilla treks. Dinner and overnight at Wagtail Eco Safari Camp (affordable), Bwindi Jungle Lodge (mid-range), or Lake Mutanda Resort (luxurious).

Day 3: Mountain Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi.

After breakfast, you will attend a gorilla briefing by the Uganda Wildlife Authority. They will give you a guideline booklet to read and understand how to behave in the forest near the gorillas.

Bwindi Rain Forest is stunning, with steep, dense terrain crisscrossed by animal pathways that make gorilla tracking possible. Besides mountain gorillas, you may spot golden monkeys, buffaloes, elephants, black-fronted duikers, bushbucks, leopards, giant forest hogs, and various bird species.

Bring a packed lunch and a drink, as tracking time depends on gorilla movements. Watching these incredible animals is an exciting and unforgettable experience. Afterward, return to your accommodation and enjoy a relaxed evening before dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Return to Kampala.

After breakfast, you will return to Kampala via Mbarara town for lunch, completing your 4-days Gorilla Trek & Lake Bunyonyi safari. Drop off at Entebbe Airport for your return journey to England.

Note that this schedule can be modified to allow you to follow gorillas first and then Lake Bunyonyi at the same expense.
