4 Day Masai Mara and Lake Nakuru Mid-Range Tour

Overview.

Masai Mara is famed for its large population of lions, leopards, and cheetahs. It is well-known for its yearly zebra and wildebeest migration (also known as the Great Migration), which takes place between July and October. Lake Nakuru is a must-see destination for any adventurous traveler. Explore this taste of heaven in the Kenyan wilderness, complete with a breathtaking sunset view of the lake and gorgeous palm-fringed trees that add to the incredible landscape of this memorable adventure.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Nairobi – Masai Mara

Our tour guide/driver will pick you up at the airport or hotel, give you a brief introduction, and then take you to Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley. Stop on the route to visit the geographical wonder, then pass past a historic chapel built by Italian POWs in 1942.

Continue driving across the countryside till we reach Narok. This is the last place for the somewhat urbanized Masai before we head into the wilderness. Arrive around noon, then check in for refreshments and lunch. Spend some time stretching and relaxing before embarking on a game drive across the Masai Mara National Reserve. Return to the lodge for a sundowner supper and overnight.

Day 2: Masai Mara.

Take a game drive and return to the resort for breakfast. After breakfast, spend the day in the park, bringing a packed lunch, looking for the park’s most popular residents. The Masai Mara plains are teeming with wildebeest during the migration season, which runs from early July to late September. Zebra, impala, topi, giraffe, and Thomson’s gazelle are frequently spotted.

You’ll also see leopards, lions, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes. Black rhinos are shy and difficult to notice, however they are frequently observed from a distance if you are lucky. Hippos are abundant in the Mara River, as are very large Nile crocodiles, who lie in wait for a meal as the wildebeest pass it. Return to the lodge for a sun downer, refreshments, dinner, and overnight.

Day 3: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru National Park.

After breakfast this morning, there will be a short briefing followed by an optional tour to the Masai Village for cultural orientation and to help the inhabitants by purchasing curiosities and artefacts. Begin your journey to Lake Nakuru with a brief stop in Narok town, then proceed to Nakuru, arriving on time to check in for lunch and refreshments, followed by a game drive at Nakuru National Park, best known for its black rhino, buffalo, and other wildlife. After the game drive, return to the lodge for dinner and a night’s sleep.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru – Nairobi

Early morning wildlife drive, followed by breakfast at the lodge, before checking out and driving back to Nairobi. A brief halt to take in the Rift Valley views and stretch. Arrive on time for drop-off at the hotel, airport, or pickup location.

Main destination: Nairobi (city).
Accommodation: There is no accommodation at the end of the excursion.
Meals and drinks include breakfast, but not lunch or dinner.
