Congo DRC has both Low land and Mountain gorillas with other primates including the bonobos which are historically called the pygmy chimpanzees with the scientific name Pan Paniscus, Western Low land gorillas can be visited in Kauzi Biega in south kivu and they mostly like to stay lowland swamp lands while Mountain Gorillas can be experienced in Virunga national park north kivu which very close to Uganda and Rwanda. Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Travel to Kisoro rom Kigali
Pick up from Kigali at your hotel, or airport and be ready for a beautiful scenic drive taking you to cross to Uganda via the Cyanika border into Kisori where you will have overnight. On arrival, you will have a guided nature walk to the beautiful Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes. The views are very magnificent
Dinner and overnight stay at Travelers Rest Hotel/Kisoro tourist hotel.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga national park.
Early breakfast at your hotel and be ready to travel into Congo crossing via the Bunagana border, diving to the park offices for a briefing on how to conduct once you meet the gorillas. Enter the forest in search for gorillas, and once you meet them, you only have one hour to view, photograph them. Virunga national park is a very rich eco system with excellent birding and primates such as the Golden Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black and White colobus monkey, and giant forest hogs among others. Return to Kisoro in Uganda. Dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 13: Kigali City tour to Gisozi genocide memorial site – Departure
Brive back to Kigali for a city tour of Kigali capital, where you will visit the museum, the genocide memorial, the craft shops and many more area. and Drop off at airport or your hotel.
